Celebrate Ohio State Parks Week By Giving

#Give2OhioParks

Join the Ohio State Parks Foundation in celebrating the first ever Ohio State Parks Week of Giving, March 1–8, 2022. There is a lot to celebrate beginning on March 1st, as that also happens to be Ohio’s birthday!

As one of only seven state park systems in the nation where park admission remains free, Ohio State Parks are accessible to all. Because of this, everyone can enjoy the benefits of our parks—whether it be by wandering trails, attending community events, spending time with friends, or simply finding moments of quiet respite in the outdoors.

The Ohio State Parks Week of Giving provides the opportunity for all who love the beauty of the Ohio State Parks to join together to help to protect and enhance them for year-round enjoyment. From the beautiful shores and islands of Lake Erie, through the rolling hills of the Hocking Valley, all the way to the waters of the great Ohio River, Ohio is home to more than 75 state parks featuring 1,500 miles of land and water trails and 70 sparkling lakes.

“You love Ohio State Parks as much as we do, and we can’t preserve them without you. With your support, the Ohio State Parks Foundation can continue to care for and enrich the parks we love,” says Lisa Daris, Ohio State Parks Foundation Executive Director.

Each year, hundreds of thousands of visitors enjoy a variety of outdoor activities, including camping, hiking, biking, swimming, boating and more. In 2020, the parks hosted 2.7 million overnight guests. Visits to the park system generate more than $500 million in economic impact each year, contributing to Ohio’s continued vitality.

As one of only seven state park systems in the nation where park admission remains free, Ohio State Parks are accessible to all Ohioans. Because of this, everyone can enjoy the benefits of our parks—whether it be by wandering trails, attending community events, spending time with friends, or simply finding moments of quiet respite in the outdoors.

Like most things we value, our parks require continued stewardship and reinvestment.  Established in 2021, the Ohio State Parks Foundation was formed to protect and enhance our scenic landscapes and advocate for their future.

By partnering with the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, the foundation serves as an advocate for the Ohio State Parks and programs and leads the effort to raise funds that help to advance the Ohio State Parks’ mission.

With your support, the Ohio State Parks Foundation can continue to care for and enrich the parks we love. We are excited to celebrate Ohio’s 75+ parks and encourage our community to help us maintain our beautiful parks to enjoy year round by donating to the Ohio State Parks Foundation.
